Work life Balance: Is It Achievable or Just a Myth..?
Work life Balance: Is It Achievable or Just a Myth..?
Getting into the topic of work-life balance is something that every professional will face at one point in their lives. In today’s fast paced environment, where work does not necessarily stop within the confines of working hours, and personal life somehow blurs into one’s profession, it can be seen that balancing both has become very difficult.
In addition, the whole notion of balance is subjective, and it is not about spending the same number of hours at work and the same number of hours at home, as the priorities and energy levels may vary. For instance, some professionals may have high-intensity work blocks followed by personal time, while others may aim to have a routine that is mostly constant.
Among the major challenges to being balanced is the digital age that we are currently in. The digital age, coupled with digital notifications, emails, and work, is perhaps the biggest challenge to ensuring work-life balance. An individual can become “always on” as a result of the challenge,
Some effective measures to improve work life balance are:
- Set boundaries around working hours
- Prioritization of Tasks: What to Concentrate On
- Taking Intentional Breaks and Time Off
- Learning to Delegate and Trust Teams
On another note, it is important to point out that work-life balance in relation to time management is not just concerned with balancing energies but is also concerned with the mental space that one aspires to achieve. Additionally, the process of having a good work life balance may not be perfect; however, it is a process rather than a destination in life. One can efficiently attain a state of balancing in life during this process.
Great points!
I agree that work-life balance is different for everyone and becomes more challenging in today’s digital world. Setting clear boundaries and taking intentional breaks are really important to maintain both productivity and personal well-being. Balance is definitely a continuous process, not a fixed destination.
