The reasons why Google Analytics and Search Console data do not match.

Google Analytics and the Search Console data will not match and both are different. Since each platform addresses a different set of issues so we can’t even say that one is better than the other. Because of that, GA (Google Analytics) and GSC (Google search console) take different approaches to collecting the data.

Let’s start with Search Console, It is only counting the clicks in Google search results and it uses query logs to track the user clicks. Search Console performance data must be used to understand whether you’re displaying for in search and the results of those appearances. whereas Analytics is counting clicks from all the organic sources. This is one of the main differences between the GSC and GA.

The second point is that Analytics is using a tracker installed on your site to count that means Google Analytics uses a user’s clickstream (also called a click path or click log) and harvests the session data from there. Their goal is to collect as much data about that user as possible. The tracking code is a script that you place on your site so it can record each and every movement of your visitors. This data can help you to improve your website and make it more attractive for them to visit.

It is an excellent way for publishers to get an understanding of how their site is performing in Google search results, so they can make changes to improve their ranking.  Google search console allows you to see search queries that bring visitors to your site, the pages they visit on your site, and the geographic location of your visitors. It also provides insights into how Google crawls and indexes your content so you can diagnose problems with crawling or indexing, or troubleshoot duplicate content issues.

Google’s Search Console help page lists these data points:

  • Confirm that Google can access and crawl your site.
  • Fix indexing issues and request that new or updated content be re-indexed.
  • View your site’s Google Search traffic statistics, including how frequently your site appears in Google Search, which search terms bring up your site, how frequently users click through to your site from those results, and more.

  • Show you which sites link to your website.
