Passive income- Is it really possible for the average person or just a myth sold by influencers?

Passive income has become one of the most discussed financial concepts of our time. Scroll through any socialo media platform and you will find countless posts promising financial freedom through rental income, dividend investing, digital products, affiliate marketing and more. But behind all the noise and highlight reels, a very important question remains is passive income genuinely achievable for the average person or is it simply a well marketed myth?

To answer that honestly we first need to understand what passive income actually means. True passive income actually means. True passive income is money earned with little to no ongoing effort after an initial invesment of time, money or both. the key word here is initial. Almost every legitimate passive income stream requires significant upfront work, capital or expertise before it starts generating any meaningful returns. It is rarely as effortless as it is made to appear online.

That said passive income is absolutely real and achievable. Divided stocks, index funds, rental properties, creating and selling digital courses or e-books,building a monetised blog or Youtube channel- these are all proven methods that people around the world are using to generate income outside of their regular salary. The difference between those who succeed and those who do not often comes down to patience, financial discipline and realistic expectaions.

The problem is that social media has glamourised passive income to the point where people expect results overnight. Building a genuine passive income stream takes months or even years of consistent effort and smartdecision making.

So the question is not really whether passive income is a myth. The question is not really whether passive income is a myth. The question is whether you are willing to put in the active work it takes to eventually earn passively.
