Leadership in Agile Project Environment

Agile project leadership differs greatly from management practices used traditionally because unlike traditional leaders, who are concerned primarily with control over all activities performed and decisions made, agile leaders concentrate mainly on empowering and helping their subordinates achieve independence.

Agile leadership entails a lot of collaboration between a leader and his team rather than dictation because teams are self-organizing in the sense that they do not require close monitoring to operate well. Agile leaders make sure that the team has all the necessary tools to deliver value within a short period of time.

Effective communication is another characteristic feature of agile leadership practice. Stand-up meetings, sprint planning, review sessions, and other regular communications serve to ensure that the whole team is aware of ongoing processes.
Flexibility is essential for any Agile project since there always might arise some issues that require prompt action from the part of the team. Therefore, a successful Agile leader should show himself flexible enough and be able to help the team adjust quickly and remain focused at the same time.
Conclusion

Thus, Agile project leadership involves collaboration and flexibility in the first place.
