Comparison of Progress at Work.

And everybody has his own way.

The occupation of any two people is not similar. Some grow fast and there are those that grow slowly. Your career is based on your capabilities, opportunities and experiences. There is no necessity to compare your direction with the other individual.

You don’t see the full story

Only the outcome in the work place, a promotion, appreciation, achievement. However, you do not know about the hardships, the disappointments or additional effort. Incomplete information will most likely be used in comparison.

Comparison kills confidence

In the process of continually comparing yourself, you begin to question yourself in what you can do. This can affect your self-esteem and affect your performance. You are not thinking of growth but you find yourself in the negative thinking.

Growth takes time

Real changes are not made within one day. Acquisition of new skills, experience and self development is a gradual and gradual process. All professions have a component of patience.

Concentrate on yourself.

Competing with oneself is the most appropriate way of developing. Idea: Am I better than I was yesterday? The minor variations which happen in a day to day basis result in monumental variations in the long run.

Each and every one has weaknesses and strengths.

One can be stronger in one aspect, whereas you may be stronger in another. Learners should not compare, rather learn other people and enhance your own skills.

Celebrate small wins

It is not necessary to wait till you can be proud of big achievements. Winning an activity, learning a new thing or coping with a challenge is a win. It is on these little things that trust is founded.

Stay consistent

Speed is not important as consistency. You may not think you are getting better, but do so. Hard work will never go down the drain.

Create your definition of success.

Success is a relative concept to different individuals. Don’t maintain time with someone. Create personal objectives depending on what is really important to you.

Final thought

Career is an individual process. Make a cessation of comparison, make a concentration, and have faith in your process. Growth will be in time.

Well said this is a great reminder. It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing progress, but everyone’s journey is different and shaped by their own experiences. I agree that focusing on personal growth, staying consistent, and celebrating small wins makes a much bigger impact in the long run. Defining success on our own terms really helps maintain confidence and direction.

Strong message. Most people lose momentum because they keep looking sideways instead of forward. Real growth is boring, slow, and consistent. The ones who win are not the fastest, they’re the ones who don’t stop. Focus, build, repeat.
