Why do we overthink simple decisions?
Why do we overthink simple decisions?
We all do it.
Spending too much time on small decisions. Thinking again and again. Trying to find the “perfect” choice. Even when the decision is simple.
So why does this happen? Most of the time, it’s not about the decision itself. It’s about the fear behind it.
Fear of making the wrong choice.
Fear of missing a better option.
Fear of being judged.
Because of that, we keep thinking.
More options → more confusion → more delay.
You might notice patterns like this:
- Rechecking the same thing multiple times
- Asking too many opinions for a small decision
- Delaying action waiting for “perfect clarity”
- Feeling mentally tired without doing anything
But here’s the truth. Not every decision needs deep thinking. Some decisions are meant to be simple. The more you overthink, the more energy you waste on things that don’t really matter.
Clarity often comes after action, not before it.
The real question is: Are you thinking to decide… or thinking to avoid deciding?
Sometimes, the best move is simple.
Decide. Act. Adjust if needed.
Because progress doesn’t come from perfect decisions. It comes from moving forward.
So true. Overthinking really slows us down. Sometimes it’s better to take action and learn along the way rather than wait for the perfect decision.
