Every interaction works like this you ask, you get an answer, and the conversation is over. The server can’t reach out first; it can only respond when you talk to it.

Web Sockets are stateful. That means horizontal scaling is harder. Each connection is tied to a specific server instance, which complicates load balancing. You’ll need sticky sessions or a shared pub/sub layer like Redis at scale.
They also don’t work with HTTP caching, CDN layers, or standard REST tooling. Debugging is harder. Monitoring is harder. Operational complexity shoots up fast.
