Do you know the 7 hidden features in Google Trends

Recently Google released a video tutorial on how to use Google Trends to search for a key phrase. The video briefly explains the 7 hidden filters and search tools available in Google Trends. Let’s look at the 7 features;

1. Punctuation

  • Google Trends Engineering Manager Omri Weisman, explained how to use search operators (Quotation marks, Plus and minus) to get deep insights and extract the actual results we are looking for

2. Segment by Language

  • They also explained how to segment your searches by language. For example, they tried how many people have searched for cats in Japanese done in the United States

3. Comparing Function

  • Daniel Waisberg said we can compare the keywords using Google Trends to get meaningful data.

4. Seasonality Discovery

  • They too explained further on to use filters to analyze the seasonality. How can you check it? First, you have to enter your keyphrase in the explore section and you have set the time to two years after it will process and give you a detailed keyword trend report for the past five years.

5. Year Over Year Trends

  • You can use the in-built filters to analyze the over-year trends but it’s limited to five searches.

6. Comparing interest by countries

  • This feature allows the user to compare the keyphrase volumes by comparing two or more countries.

7. Export or Share the Trend Results

You can get the Google Trends results in three formats such as URL, embedded and exported to a spreadsheet.
