Quality or Consistency—which matters more?

When you are trying to grow in the media you probably get two types of advice.

People say “post” and they also say “focus on quality”.

What if you feel like you can only do one of these things?

Posting consistently is good because it helps people remember you. It builds trust. Keep your audience engaged. If you do not post for weeks people will forget you even if your content is really good.

On the other hand, quality is what makes people stop scrolling through their feeds. It is what gets shared and remembered. One good post can be better than ten posts that are not very good.

If you post consistently but your posts are not very good it is just noise.

If you only post every now and then but your posts are really good people might not even see them.

The best creators do not try to make every post perfect. They do not just post something for the sake of posting either. They try to make posts that help people or teach them something. They post regularly. This does not mean that every post has to be your work. Some days you will make something good and other days you will just share what you have learned.

Both of these types of posts are valuable because you get better when you keep showing up and trying.

I have realized that posting consistently gives you opportunities but making good quality posts is what really makes an impression on people. If you are wondering if you should post something today, maybe you should ask yourself if your post will help someone.

If the answer is yes then you should post it.Over time your posts will get better. You will get better at posting consistently.

Maybe we are asking the question. Maybe the question is not quality or consistency.

Maybe the question is how can we keep posting while also making our posts better?

What do you think is important. Quality, consistency or finding a good balance, between the two?
