Leadership is no longer viewed as a position. Rather, leadership is considered to be a behavior that is variable. Leadership is where individuals take responsibility, communicate with integrity, and do so either when they are being watched or when they are not being watched. This is where they influence an outcome by trust rather than control.
Behavior-led leadership is based on accountability, not power. The leader appears when it is uncertain, is present when it is tough, and consistent when it is pressurized. This creates psychological safety, which is needed in innovation as well as in performance.
They listen more than the current generation of leaders. They are receptive to feedback, diverse views, and take decisions for the sake of improvement, not for the sake of pride.
