The real meaning of celebrating small wins after project

When a project is completed, we can so easily focus on the final goal, which is the launch, delivery, or handover. What we overlook is the victory that we managed to reach with a series of minor triumphs. Every off-time brainstorming session, every wasted idea that led to another, every small comprmise in design, and every techniacal issue that was solved all in themselves are all a success. Praising such moments is more than feeling good, but it is also about seeing the progress, gaining momentum, and trmaining motivated.

Small wins are capable of getting that psychological boost every one of us needs since they trigger the brain to release dopamine and positively reinforce the positive behavior, and escalate our risk of pushing forward. It is these moments of recognition that turn work not necessarily into deadlines-to-meet-games but earn us, instead of feeling refreshed.

There is also an emotional demand for small wins in my case. They remind me that the way is just as great as the place. Giving an update to colleagues, complimenting colleagues, or even some time off can make the process meaningful. These celebrations need not be a major thing, but at times it can be a coffee break or a list of music that can be used as the end of a stage or a simple talk to the family about what has been achieved. It is the process itself of slowing down to know that he has tried and has gone up.

Small wins are also applicable in the long run because they result in resilience. Big aspirations take months, maybe years, to become reality, and failing to record the small milestones along the path would make one believe that success is never too close. We do not experience the de-motivation inherent in the long journeys by breaking it down into milestones and celebrating in the process, it makes the team spirt and is constant reminder that growth is in layers.

The real meaning of small wins celebration does not mean that one loses sight of the big picture, but injects the energy, motivation, and positivity into the latter. Without them, the achievements of any value are false; with them, they turns valuable, memorable and gratifying.
