Bing Webmaster Tools Update: 16 Months Data, Recommendations, & Copilot Preview
Bing Webmaster Tools is a service for managing a website’s presence and optimization for the Bing search engine. It provides information and analysis about search and indexing, gives possible page performance and crawling troubles, lets website owners add or check URLs, and performs SEO tasks.
Bing has introduced significant updates to Bing Webmaster Tools, expanding data access, enhancing insights, and previewing AI integration:
- Extended Search Performance Data: Bing has increased the availability of historical search performance data to up to 16 months rather than 6. This increase allows for providing more extensive information about traffic trends, as Google has done in its data update in 2018. Although initially, Bing proposed the provision of data for 24 months, the change to 16 months is a move towards better data availability.
- New Recommendations Section: Recommendations to enhance the website visibility and performance have replaced the Insights section of the application. It is important to note that this update will provide conservation suggestions of value within the existing space and will serve to simplify optimization-related exercises.
- Copilot Integration Preview: Copilot is still in the testing phase, Microsoft recently started a trial with a small audience within Bing Webmaster Tools. Copilot operates with artificial intelligence and produces contextual answers for questions related to data in an organization thus increasing efficiency through easier data processing. For now, this feature is only open for selected users to join.
Many of these updates highlight Microsoft’s focus on enhancing Bing Webmaster Tools with new features that help simplify site optimization and get better data points for SEO specialists.
