The Power of Doing Nothing (And Why It Matters)
In a world where being busy is perceived as being productive, nothing can be a sore thing to do. We are continually being driven to be on the move, do more, and time is of the essence. However, what about doing nothing and finding that it is something we require?
To have a break is not to take a flight. It is about providing your mind with the room to relax and rejuvenate. Our creativity and clarity may gradually disappear when we are constantly preoccupied with tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities. Even a small pause, several minutes of not doing anything, can make us think better and feel less uneasy.
The ideas that are sometimes the best are those that we are not actively trying to find. Once your mind is relaxed, it will automatically begin to make new connections between thoughts. That is why it can happen that, in some moments, such as gazing out of the window or going on a little walk, can cause a sudden cause of inspiration.
Indifference is good to relieve stress as well. It enables you to get out of stress and re-identify with yourself. This will enhance your mental health and productivity in the long term.
One should know that rest does not waste time; it is a subset of the process. We need small pauses in the day, as we do sleep to operate.
The next time you feel bad about taking a break, keep in mind that sometimes, not doing anything is precisely what you need to move on.
