Should Web Developers Learn Backend in 2025?
In 2025, frontend tools are more powerful than ever. With platforms like Firebase, Supabase, and serverless APIs, many frontend developers can build full applications without touching traditional backend code.
But on the flip side, having backend knowledge gives better control over custom APIs, database optimization, authentication flows, and scalability.
👉 What do you think?
Should every frontend developer at least know the basics of backend (like REST APIs, Node.js, DB schemas)?
Or is it totally fine to specialize deeply in frontend alone?

I think every frontend dev should know at least the basics of backend like how APIs work, auth flows, and database structure. You don’t have to go deep, but that knowledge makes you way more effective, especially when debugging or building solo projects.
That said, it’s totally fine to specialize in frontend too. The field is deep enough on its own. But a little backend understanding goes a long way.
