In my opinion, traditional IT roles are not disappearing but rather evolving. While automation and AI tools can handle repetitive tasks such as monitoring, troubleshooting, and deployments, there’s still a strong need for human expertise in managing complex systems, ensuring security, and making strategic decisions. For example, a system administrator today is no longer just responsible for installing software and maintaining servers. they are expected to understand cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and even aspects of cybersecurity.
I believe these changes are actually opportunities for IT professionals to upskill and adapt to modern workflows. Instead of being replaced, we are transitioning into more specialized and valuable roles. At the same time, soft skills like problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking remain essential, because technology may automate processes but cannot replace human judgment.
I completely agree IT careers aren’t going away they’re evolving. Automation and artificial intelligence are becoming routine processes but that actually leaves space for IT workers to concentrate on cloud, DevOps, security, and strategy. As you’ve said, soft skills like problem-solving and critical thinking are still necessary since technology can’t replace human judgment. The future of IT is less about being replaced and more about becoming more specialized and meaningful.
